Useful Personal Home Exercise Equipment

January 30th, 2011

The time during my college years, I would frequent the gymnasium practically every day, even though I spent lots of time working out, the issue of being overweight persisted for me. I practically live at the gym; I had very few friends that weren’t members of my health club. One of the downfalls of the membership at the gym was that I spent a lot of my time socializing with fellow members. The focal point of my workout was the weight bench, I would try to get in some interval Training, run thirty minutes on the treadmill, and time permitted I would use the upper body recumbent cycle, The elliptical trainer was my favorite piece of equipment this exercise routine helped me achieve my greatest fitness level, this is one of the fitness exercise that I tried to get in at the end of each visit.

When I graduated from college my outlook on working out and staying physically fit took a drastic turn for the worst. With a new job that was very demanding and trying to study for an advanced degree, left me with very little time to stay fit. And by that fact that the gym was quite some distance for home or work was really eating away at my much need minutes. I begin to start having weight issues that were starting to impact on my health; I then decided that I was going to invest in home gym exercise equipment. what made me come to this conclusion when a construction project created such a traffic nightmare that I was forced to drastically cut my workout routine to a point that it was virtually useless to put forth the effort to even come.

Now that I have made this decision to invest in a home gym, but I asked myself what could I buy that I was going to give me the same level of exercise at home that I was getting at the health club. With limited space available for a large array of home exercise equipment I need to figure out what was going to give me at least an equivalent work to the gym with an at home workout, but with fewer numbers of workout equipment. If I was going to stay fit by working out at home I wanted good quality fitness equipment that was going to give me good results with my weight loss.

These are the first items I purchase for my personal gym. A Treadmill for cardio health, a rowing machine for upper body strength and a fitness cycle to improve endurance. My next purchase is going to be something that will provide me with some weight training this all happened to me a few years ago, and I am happy to report to you that my plan worked out like I thought it would. I got a lot of my time back and I have been able to keep my weight down. To anyone who cannot make the time to spend going to the gym, I highly recommend that you get yourself some home exercise equipment. I recommend an elliptical fitness trainer, a quality treadmill, and a recumbent bike.

Home Workout Equipment – Should You Purchase Infomercial Products?

January 30th, 2011

When we are considering the purchase of a piece of home workout equipment, the array of choices for equipping your home gym available can seem daunting, and have us wondering where to really start our search. While there are huge amounts of information available online regarding exercise equipment, it can be difficult to plow through, and so when an infomercial comes on our TV that is clear and interesting, it can seem that the choice has somehow been made for us! And while as seen on TV exercise equipment can offer us fantastic opportunities, it is always a good idea to get a second opinion on what we’ve seen on television.

There are some manufacturers of workout machines who specialize in infomercial advertising, so there are certain brands that you might tend to see lot on television. New home exercise products are often advertised on television too, in order to increase general awareness that something new has arrived on the market. While the choice of home exercise equipment that you will see on TV is good, it is wise to bear in mind that it is only a portion of what is available overall, and while as seen on TV workout equipment might receive great testimonials, there is other equipment available too that also receives rave reviews. Trusting the opinion of someone on the TV can be no more or less reliable than reading home gym reviews online or in a magazine, but do remember that an infomercial has been made by the manufacturer themselves, and is therefore not unbiased. If a piece of home exercise equipment does catch your eye on television, it is always a good idea to try to find some independent reviews, to find out what other users thought of all its specifications before you purchase it yourself for your workouts.

Unfortunately, it sometimes boils down to each individual’s personal preference, and there is always the chance that what another exerciser loves is not quite right for you. Try out a piece of home exercise equipment at your local gym or fitness centre before purchase if you can, and when reading reviews and watching TV, always remember to bear your own personal needs in mind. Don’t get swept away by the enthusiasm of television infomercials, and remember what is most important to you in your workouts.

Home Exercise Equipment

January 30th, 2011

During economic downturns, gym memberships often times are one of the first things to suffer, but that doesn’t mean your health should suffer as well. Whether you are looking to cut back on your monthly expenses, or if you occasionally would like to work out without the hassle of driving anywhere, look at the list below that outlines the best exercise equipment you can purchase for your home.

Some of these items carry a sizeable price tag if purchased new from your favorite sporting goods retailer, so if you are in the market, check out Craigslist or your local pawnshop. You are bound to find better deals. Remember, though, that when purchasing used exercise equipment to make sure all parts are working and that it appears that the machine still has a good life ahead of itself.

1. Rowing Machines

Rowing is one of the best total body exercises you can do. It combines upper body strength with lower body strength to work most muscles in your body. Arms, pecs, back, legs. You name it and a rowing machine will work it.

2. Treadmills

Treadmills sometimes get a bad rap for the wear and tear people claim your knees absorb on them, but good treadmills often times are built to counter the impact. A good treadmill has a kind of bounce to it when you are running and this will sustain your knees much more than running on concrete would. Treadmills, in general, provide a great cardio workout, and the differing speeds allow you to do anything from a nice stroll to an intense sprint.

3. Exercise Bicycles

Exercise bicycles also provide a great cardio workout and, like a treadmill, can help you keep in shape during inclement weather. Bicycles are a great way to get out and see the landscape you live in, but only if you have good weather. When Mother Nature isn’t good to you, an exercise bike is the best solution. Use the tension on it to simulate climbing hills or just go out for a smooth ride and leg your legs pumping.

4. Elliptical Trainers

Elliptical trainers are essentially treadmills without the pounding on your knees. Elliptical machines also have the built in feature of adding arm movement to your run, to give you a better overall workout. For some the motion is awkward at first, but spending enough time on them will make you feel like you have been using them forever.

5. Step Machines

Want to simulate climbing to the top of the tallest building in your hometown, in the country or in the world, without leaving your house? Get on a step machine! Step machines are like treadmills, in that they have a moving belt, except in the case of step machines, the moving belt is fashioned in to steps to simulate climbing. Most modern step machines will count the number of stairs and flights you have climbed, so before hopping onto one, find out how many flights of stairs a certain building is and then challenge yourself to climb that many flights.

6. Cross Country Ski Machines

Another total body workout, cross country ski machines can simulate winter trekking. Like rowing machines, ski machines will give you a full body workout and will help you stay fit in the summer time, so that you can go exploring your favorite hiking trail in the winter months.

Hopefully this list gives you a good sense of the types of exercise machines that are out there. Most gyms should have these onsite which can allow you to test out which you like before you buy.

Keep sporting!
