Find Cheap Home Gym Equipment Online

January 25th, 2011

When looking for home gym equipment, you will quickly begin to see the prices can be quite high.?This may discourage you, but having a gym in your home can be possible, finding cheap or used equipment.?One of the best places to find gym equipment for cheap prices is online.

There are many places online you can look for products at cheap prices for, but there are two that standout as the greatest, and easiest to use.?Those are eBay and Craigslist.?Each of them has a different focus, but they can both provide an easy way to find cheap home gym equipment.

Using eBay

If you are unfamiliar with eBay, it is an online auction marketplace.?You can sell stuff you own and people will bid on it.?Or you can bid on other people’s stuff, and the products go to the highest bidder.?Many people are selling workout equipment on eBay because they are no longer using it, or maybe they have upgraded to nicer equipment.?Most of these pieces of workout equipment on eBay will only receive a few bids, so it’s most likely that your bid will be the winning bid.?You can even set a maximum bid, and eBay will bid for you up to that amount, in case someone else tries to bid on the item you are trying to win.?One thing to think about when using eBay for gym equipment, is shipping prices may be high because the products are usually heavy.

Using Craigslist

Craigslist is like an online yard sale.?Craigslist is divided into different metropolitan areas of the United States and Canada.?Within each city, there are tons of different sections for people to list stuff they want to sell.?They have a “Fitness Equipment” category, and this would be the best place to find cheap home gym equipment.?Just like with eBay, people are either not using this equipment anymore, or they’ve upgraded to better equipment, and so they are selling their older stuff for cheap prices.?Usually you need to go and pick up the items.?Be aware of people who might be trying to scam you.?if something doesn’t feel right, then just find another seller who is selling the same product.

Building a home gym can be great for your workout routines, so you won’t ever have to go to the gym.?But, when starting out, home gym equipment can be expensive.?But, if you look online you can find great deals.?Just use eBay or Craigslist, and you can have your gym built in no time, right in your home.

Home Workout Equipment

January 20th, 2011

Those that are looking to gain muscle but do not want to pay for a gym membership or workout around others may invest in home workout equipment. If you have the room in your home to do so, having your own gym is beneficial for a number of reasons. The tools to need are right there, available for you to use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The items require an upfront investment, but they will soon be cheaper than a monthly membership to a gym. Also, this takes out the awkwardness some people feel about working out in front of strangers.

To have an effective home gym, you will need to invest in the right workout equipment. The following section details the items that are considered “must haves” by those who choose to work out at home.

Weight Benches

Weight benches come in a variety of styles, so it is important to consider each when deciding what will be best for you. You will need to get one with crutches if you do not want to purchase a power rack to use along with the bench. The further spaced the crutches are, the more weight they can hold. Most crutches offer a 36″ for the weights, which is good for the average lifter.

There are some additions you can get when purchasing certain benches. You will want to be able to change the incline and decline of the bench itself in order to get the proper positions for weight lifting. You may also opt for a leg extension which will allow you to do several different leg exercises with your weights.

Weight Plates

There are three different types of weight plates available, and the kind you use is really up to you. Rubber coated weights are the best option as far as durability as concerned, but they are the most expensive in order to get something that will last. They are easy on floors due to the rubber coating, so they will not leave behind scratches. Plastic and cast iron weights are the other options. Plastic tend to be the easiest to break, so you will need to figure the need to replace them every 2 or 3 years. Cast iron are very strong, but can scuff floors easily when used.

Dumbbells

Dumbbells come in a wide variety of sizes and weights. Most people could not afford every different size out there, so it is vital that you consider the weights you will need. You may want to choose a set of dumbbells that will allow you to change their weights, as this will prevent you from having to store a number of sets. Dumbbell handles are also good home workout equipment options, as you will be able to add and remove mini weight plates to them as needed.

Multi-Use Machines

Machines that allow their uses to complete a number of different exercises are sometimes the route that people go with opting for home workout equipment. Though the other items listed here are beneficial, some do not have the space for everything that is needed. For this reason, multi-use machines are popular.
